Sharon Butler is a Vancouver area fibre artist working with silk and alpaca. She spins, weaves and dyes (using natural dyes) to create original handwoven items inspired by the colours, the light and the rich, vibrant surroundings of the Pacific west coast. Each item incorporates the exquisite beauty of natural fibres of silk, alpaca, wool along with bamboo, soy and seasilk. Each piece is a one-of-a-kind design utilizing unusual weaving techniques such as shibori, and all are made with natural dyes such as cochineal, madder, lac to create unique effects.
